Every RSVP invitation needs four parts: the guest's name, a way to accept or decline, a reply-by date and how to answer. Below are ten RSVP wedding invitation samples to copy, from a formal printed reply card to a Messenger line, plus meal choice, named plus-ones, adults-only, Tagalog and a card for your ninong and ninang.

To see how a digital RSVP looks from the guest's side, open the Heirloom sample invitation and scroll to R.S.V.P.

Every sample uses a wedding on Saturday, February 13, 2027, with a reply date of January 9, which is five weeks before. Swap in your own dates. If you only need the definition of the word, see what RSVP means.

What goes on an RSVP card?

Four fields are required and two are optional. Anything else can live on your invitation or wedding website.

FieldWhat it doesNeeded?
Name lineTells you who replied and how to spell them for seatingYes
Accept / declineThe answer itselfYes
Reply-by dateGives the guest a deadline and you a date to follow upYes
How to replyEnvelope, link, QR code or phone numberYes
Seats reservedCaps the headcount per householdWhen you're strict about plus-ones
Meal choice or allergiesTells the caterer what to cookOnly for plated dinners or allergies

On formal cards the name line starts with a lone "M". The Knot explains that guests finish it with their honorific (Mr., Mrs., Ms. or Miss) and then their name. A plain "Name:" line works too and reads less stiff.

RSVP invitation samples you can copy

1. Formal printed reply card

For a parent-hosted church wedding with a full invitation suite.

M______________________________

____ accepts with pleasure

____ declines with regret

The favour of your reply is requested by the ninth of January, two thousand twenty-seven

Include a return envelope with your address. Emily Post suggests pre-addressing and stamping it so replying takes no effort, and says a phone number or email on the card is fine if you'd rather skip the post. Mail is slow and easy to forget, so we'd print a number or QR code either way.

2. Printed card that sends guests online

A printed card for the keepsake, a link for the answer.

Kindly reply by January 9, 2027

Scan the code or visit [your website]

We have reserved __ seats in your honor

The Knot suggests this format in its RSVP wording guide: a separate enclosure card pointing to your website, instead of squeezing the URL onto the invitation itself.

3. Digital invitation RSVP line

For the RSVP section of a wedding website or an e-invite.

Please confirm by Saturday, January 9, 2027, using your personal link below. It already lists the seats reserved for your household.

The second sentence answers the plus-one question before the guest has to ask it.

4. Messenger or Viber message

Most of your list will get the invitation on their phone. DataReportal puts Messenger's ad reach at 83.3 percent of Filipino adults. Keep the message short and put the link last, where a thumb finds it.

Hi [name]! We're getting married on February 13, 2027 and we'd love for you to be there. Kindly let us know by January 9 using your personal link. It takes a minute: [link]

For a friend group, send each household its own message and link. One link dropped in the barkada chat tells you who answered only if they type their names right.

5. With a meal choice

Only ask this if your caterer serves a plated dinner with options. At a buffet, ask about allergies instead.

Kindly reply by January 9, 2027

____ Joyfully accepts ____ Regretfully declines

Please write each guest's name beside their main course:

Beef __________ Fish __________ Vegetarian __________

Allergies or dietary needs: ____________________

Names next to each choice come from Emily Post, who also suggests marking the choice on the place card, since guests forget what they ordered. A digital form can ask the same question once per guest.

6. With a named plus-one

A named companion is clearer than "and guest".

We have reserved 2 seats in your honor, for you and [companion's name].

____ of 2 will attend

The "__ of 2" format is a trick The Knot recommends. The guest fills in the first number and sees the limit printed beside it. If you're allowing an unnamed plus-one, write "Your guest's name: _______" so you can still print a place card.

7. Adults-only

Put the rule on the RSVP, where it can't be missed, and phrase it as your choice.

We love your little ones, but our celebration is for adults only. We have reserved __ seats in your honor.

Kindly reply by January 9, 2027.

Tell the parents in your family personally before the cards go out. A card alone reads colder than you mean it to.

8. Regrets only

Regrets only, by January 9, 2027: [number]

Emily Post defines it plainly: reply only if you can't attend, because "if your host doesn't hear from you, he is expecting you!" We don't recommend it for a catered wedding. Every guest who forgets to send regrets becomes a plate you pay for. It suits a casual after-party or a despedida where the food is flexible.

9. Tagalog and Taglish

Formal Tagalog for a printed card:

Pangalan: ____________________

____ Makadadalo

____ Ikinalulungkot, hindi makadadalo

Mangyaring tumugon bago ang ika-9 ng Enero, 2027.

Leave "po" off the two reply lines. The guest is the one speaking there, and your ninong shouldn't have to say "po" to you.

For honorifics on a Tagalog card, Filipino Wedding suggests Ginoo, Ginang and Binibini in place of Mr., Mrs. and Miss.

Taglish for Messenger, for titas and titos:

Hi Tita! Sana po makarating kayo ni Tito sa kasal namin sa February 13. Paki-confirm na lang po by January 9 dito sa link, para ma-finalize namin ang headcount sa caterer. Salamat po! [link]

For elders who don't reply to messages, call. Then send the link to whoever in the house handles their phone.

10. For principal sponsors and the entourage

Sponsors hear about their role before the invitation arrives. The Smile Bar describes the usual order: ask informally first, then send a card with the invitation. The RSVP for sponsors confirms more than attendance.

Dear Ninong [name] and Ninang [name],

Thank you for agreeing to stand as our principal sponsors. Kindly confirm by January 9, 2027 that you'll both be with us, so we can reserve your seats in front and include you in the entourage entrance.

Please arrive at the church by [call time] for photos before the ceremony.

[link or mobile number]

For the entourage (bridesmaids, groomsmen, secondary sponsors), add the details you'll need from them: attire size if you're providing it, and whether they'll join the rehearsal. Our sponsors guide covers the roles themselves.

Which RSVP format fits your guest list?

Wedding invitations with RSVP usually mix two or three of these, one per kind of guest.

GuestBest format
Principal sponsors, lolos, lolasPrinted card plus a phone call
Parents' friends and titasPrinted card with QR, or Taglish message with link
Friends and cousinsMessenger or Viber message with a personal link
Guests abroadDigital link (no mail, no time zones)

For the cost of each route at 150 guests, see our digital vs printed invitations guide.

What date should the RSVP say?

Four to six weeks before the wedding, with invitations going out 10 to 12 weeks before. That leaves guests at least four weeks to answer and you time to follow up before the caterer's cutoff. Bride & Breakfast puts the deadline at least a month out, and The Knot says around four weeks.

Write the actual date, with the day of the week if there's room. Our wedding RSVP guide has the full timeline, and how to get every guest to RSVP has the follow-up scripts.

Five mistakes that cost you headcount

  1. "The Santos Family" on the envelope. Name every invited person, or the family decides for you.
  2. No date, or "ASAP". Guests read that as whenever.
  3. Two ways to reply that don't meet. Answers on the card, in Messenger and in comments all need merging by hand.
  4. Questions you won't use. A song request is fun. A mailing address you already have isn't.
  5. A single shared link. You'll get "Tita Baby +3" and no idea which Tita Baby.

Where Ceremo fits

A printed card and a notebook are enough for a small wedding where you know everyone. For a longer list, Ceremo gives each household its own RSVP link that already lists the invited guests and any plus-one you allowed. Guests answer without an account, and you get a notification when a household replies.

Everything in the samples above maps to a setting. You set the RSVP deadline, allow plus-ones guest by guest (the guest types each companion's name on the form), and add custom questions (meal choice, allergies, a song request) asked once per guest or once per household. Custom questions are free on every plan. You can also print an RSVP QR card for each household to tuck into printed invitations.

Answers land in one guest list marked Attending, Not attending, Maybe or Pending. On Premium, Ceremo emails reminders to pending guests who have an email address, at 30, 14, 7, 3 and 1 days before your deadline.

It's free for up to 50 guests. Browse the invitation maker, or start your guest list and paste your first link into Messenger. For the rest of the invitation text, our invitation wording samples pick up where this leaves off.

Frequently asked questions

What should an RSVP card say?

A line for the guest's name, a way to accept or decline, the date you need the answer by and how to send it. Add the number of seats reserved and a meal choice only if you will use them. Everything else belongs on the invitation or your wedding website.

How do you write an RSVP line on a wedding invitation?

Give a specific date and one way to answer, for example "Kindly reply by January 9, 2027, using your personal link below." A date beats "four weeks before the wedding", because guests should not have to count backwards.

How do you say plus-ones are not included on an RSVP?

State the number of seats and name the people they are for, such as "We have reserved 2 seats in your honor." A number printed on the card or shown on their link answers the question before anyone has to ask.

Is regrets only okay for a wedding?

Rarely. A regrets-only invitation asks guests to reply only if they cannot come, so silence counts as a yes. For a catered wedding with a per-head price, ask everyone to answer.

How do you write an RSVP in Tagalog?

Keep it polite with "po" and give the date: "Mangyaring ipaalam po ninyo bago ang ika-9 ng Enero, 2027 kung kayo ay makadadalo." For titas and ninongs, a Taglish message with a link works well too.
