Invitation in Tagalog: wedding wording samples you can copy
Invitation in Tagalog is imbitasyon or paanyaya. Copy-ready Tagalog and Taglish wedding wording: formal, casual, civil, RSVP, dress code and ninong messages.
Invitation in Tagalog is imbitasyon (from the Spanish invitación) or paanyaya, the more formal word for a written invitation. A wedding invitation is imbitasyon sa kasal. The standard formal line is "Kayo ay malugod naming inaanyayahan," meaning "You are warmly invited by us." This guide has copy-ready Tagalog and Taglish samples for every part of the card.
If you'd like to see a whole wedding website in Tagalog first, open the Piña sample invitation. Its section titles and RSVP buttons are in Tagalog by default ("Oo, darating ako" and "Hindi makakarating").

How do you say invitation in Tagalog?
Filipino has three words for it, each with its own register. The meanings below come from Diksiyonaryo.ph, the free online Filipino dictionary.
| Word | What it means | Where it fits |
|---|---|---|
| imbitasyon | Invitation; from Spanish invitación | Everyday speech, Taglish, casual messages |
| paanyaya | "Pormal na anyaya, karaniwang pasulát ang anyo" (formal, usually written) | Printed cards, formal headings |
| anyaya | The request to come to a place, event or activity | Root of the verbs you'll use most |
The verbs come from the same roots. Mag-imbita and imbitahan are casual ("Imbitahan natin si Tita"). Mag-anyaya and anyayahan are formal, and inaanyayahan ("are being invited") is the verb in the classic formal line.
For the wedding itself, kasal is the plain word. Pag-iisang dibdib is the poetic one. It suits the top of a formal card. Diksiyonaryo.ph lists makipag-isang dibdib simply as "mag-asawa," to marry.
Should your invitation be in Tagalog, English or both?
Tagalog is the home language of 39.9 percent of Filipino households, according to the 2020 census. Bisaya/Binisaya is next at 16.0 percent, then Hiligaynon (7.3) and Ilocano (7.1). So a Tagalog card is the warm choice in Luzon's Tagalog provinces and Metro Manila. For a lola in Iloilo or Cebu, it may feel no closer to home than English.
The three usual setups:
- Full Tagalog, when both families speak it at home and the ceremony is traditional.
- Bilingual: English body, Tagalog headings and one Tagalog line at the top, easy for everyone to read.
- Taglish, for the barkada group chat and the save-the-date, never for the sponsors' card.
Pick one register per card. A formal Tagalog opening followed by "See you there, guys!" sounds like two different cards stapled together.

Parents as hosts (church wedding)
This is the traditional format, with both sets of parents inviting. G., Gng. and Bb. are the Filipino abbreviations for Ginoo (Mr.), Ginang (Mrs.) and Binibini (Miss).

Write dates with ika- and a hyphen before the number (ika-13, ika-3). That is the form in the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino spelling guide, which gives "ika-8 ng umaga" as its example.

Naming means "by us," so this line only works when the couple is speaking. On a parent-hosted card, use nag-aanyaya with the parents' names, as above.
Parents and sponsors (the entourage page)
A full Tagalog card lists the entourage under Tagalog headings. The ones below are all in real use: "Mga Gabay sa Aming Buhay" and "Munting Binibini" appeared on a couple's 2013 invitation shared on Practical Pinay, and "Piling Ginoo" comes from the invitation printer Sweetknottings.

Abay is the dictionary word for the couple's attendants ("pangunahing katuwang ng mga ikinakasal"). For who belongs in each group and in what order, see the wedding sponsors guide.
Casual and Taglish samples
For friends, cousins and the office group chat:
Hi, barkada! Ikakasal na kami ni Migs sa Feb 13, 2027, sa Tagaytay. Sana makasama namin kayo sa araw na 'yan. Nandito lahat ng detalye pati RSVP: [link]. Pakisagot bago Jan 9 ha, para ma-finalize na namin ang headcount sa caterer!
A shorter one, for a single friend:
Invited ka sa kasal namin! Feb 13, 2027, 3 PM. Details at RSVP dito: [link]. Sana makarating ka!
Put the date and the link in the message itself, so a guest scrolling back through Messenger finds both in one place.
Civil wedding invitation in Tagalog
A civil ceremony card can be shorter than a church one: no Mass to announce, and usually a smaller entourage.
Kami po ay ikakasal sa isang simpleng seremonyang sibil,
at ikagagalak po naming makasama kayo sa mahalagang araw na ito.Bea at Migs

RSVP, dress code and save-the-date lines
RSVP in Tagalog
| Where | Line |
|---|---|
| Formal card | Inaasahan po namin ang inyong tugon bago ang ika-9 ng Enero 2027. |
| Seat count | Naglaan po kami ng dalawang (2) upuan para sa inyo. |
| Digital link | Pakisagot po sa link na ito bago ang ika-9 ng Enero: [link] |
| Taglish | Paki-RSVP naman bago Jan 9, para ma-finalize namin ang headcount! |
| Button on a wedding site | Oo, darating ako · Hindi ako makakarating |
The seat-count line tells each household how many people the invitation covers, which settles plus-ones in writing. A deadline of 4 to 6 weeks before the wedding, with invitations out 10 to 12 weeks before, gives guests time to reply and you time to chase. Our guide to getting guests to RSVP covers what to do about the ones who don't.
Dress code (kasuotan)
Kasuotan: Pormal. Barong Tagalog o amerikana para sa mga kalalakihan; Filipiniana o mahabang bestida para sa mga kababaihan.
Kasuotan: Semi-pormal, sa mga kulay na olive at ivory. Iwasan po sana ang puti.
The second names the colors and the one to avoid. "Semi-pormal" on its own is hard to shop for.
Save the date
Pakitandaan po ang petsang ito!
Ikakasal na sina Bea at Migs
ika-13 ng Pebrero 2027 · Tagaytay
Susunod ang pormal na imbitasyon.
In Taglish: "Save the date! Ikakasal na kami sa Feb 13, 2027. Full invite to follow, pero i-block n'yo na ang araw na 'yan!"
Gift line
Ang inyong pagdalo ang pinakamagandang regalo para sa amin. Kung nais pa rin ninyong magbigay, buong-puso naming tatanggapin ang munting handog na salapi para sa pagsisimula ng aming buhay mag-asawa.
If you'd rather not mention money, end the card after the first sentence.
Messages to your ninong and ninang
Ask in person or by phone first. The message comes after they've said yes, as the way you send the details.
When you ask, keep it simple:
Tita Lorna, kayo po ang gusto naming maging gabay sa aming pagsasama bilang mag-asawa. Papayag po ba kayong maging ninang namin sa kasal?
Then, on Messenger or Viber, with the invitation:
Magandang hapon po, Ninang Lorna. Maraming salamat po ulit sa pagpayag na maging ninang namin ni Migs. Narito po ang aming imbitasyon: [link]. Nandiyan na rin po ang oras ng martsa at ang kulay ng kasuotan para sa mga ninong at ninang. Tawagan n'yo lang po ako kung may tanong kayo.
For elders who'd rather hold a card, send a printed one too. Our printed or digital guide explains how to split the list between print and digital.
How to use po and kayo in writing
The rules for written Tagalog:
- Use kayo (and ninyo, inyo), the respectful plural "you," for elders and on printed cards. Don't mix ka and kayo on the same card.
- Put po right after the first word or phrase: "Inaanyayahan po namin kayo," not "Inaanyayahan namin kayo po."
- One po per sentence is enough. Stacking three in one line makes a card sound anxious.
- On a formal printed card, po is optional. The formal verbs and kayo already carry the respect. In a personal message to a ninang or lola, put it back in.
Before printing, ask a Tagalog speaker from each family to read the card aloud, and rewrite any line they trip over.
Put your Tagalog invitation online with Ceremo
Every line on a Ceremo invitation is text you type, so any template takes Tagalog. On the Piña template, under Piña Settings, Wording is set to Tagalog by default, so its section titles ("Mga Ninong at Ninang," "Ang programa," "Mga paalala") and RSVP buttons appear in Tagalog until you write your own. You can switch it to English, and you can reword the RSVP buttons on any template. Save the Date mode publishes just the cover and countdown while you finish the rest.
Each household gets its own RSVP link, guests answer without an account and you're notified when a household replies. Ceremo is free for up to 50 guests, and Premium is a one-time ₱2,499. If you only need a printed card, a local printer and the samples above are enough. For a site with RSVPs, start your invitation.
For the English versions of these samples, see wedding invitation wording samples. For design ideas by style, see wedding invitation examples.
Frequently asked questions
How do you say invitation in Tagalog?
Invitation in Tagalog is imbitasyon, from the Spanish invitación, or paanyaya, which Diksiyonaryo.ph defines as a formal invitation, usually written. Imbitasyon is the everyday word. Paanyaya sounds more formal and suits printed wedding cards.
How do you say "you are invited" in Tagalog?
The formal version is "Kayo ay malugod naming inaanyayahan," meaning you are warmly invited by us. For friends, "Invited ka!" or "Sana makarating ka" is natural. Use kayo for elders and on printed cards, and ka only for people you would talk to that way in person.
How do you write RSVP in Tagalog?
Write "Inaasahan po namin ang inyong tugon bago ang ika-9 ng Enero 2027" on a formal card, or "Pakisagot po bago ang ika-9 ng Enero" for a digital link. Always give a date. Keeping the English word RSVP as a label is fine.
What is wedding in Tagalog?
Wedding is kasal in Tagalog. Formal invitations also use pag-iisang dibdib, the poetic phrase for marriage (dibdib means chest, where the heart is). A wedding invitation is imbitasyon sa kasal or paanyaya sa kasal.
Do you need po on a Tagalog wedding invitation?
On a printed card for all guests, the respectful plural kayo already carries the politeness, so po is optional. In a personal message to a ninong, ninang, tita or lola, add po, once per sentence, right after the first word or phrase.
