Wedding invitation templates: where to get free ones and what a Filipino invitation needs
Where to find free wedding invitation templates in Canva, Word, Google Docs and more, with prices, the fields a Filipino invitation needs and print specs.
A wedding invitation template is a ready-made design you edit with your own names, date and venues, then print or send as an image or link. Free ones live in Canva, Microsoft Word, Adobe Express and Google Docs. For a Filipino wedding, pick one with room for the entourage and sponsors as well as the names and date.
If you want an invitation that is already a website, with an RSVP built in, you can open one of Ceremo's live sample invitations on your phone and scroll through it the way a guest would.
Prices below were checked on each tool's own site in September 2026.
Where can you get a free wedding invitation template?
Whether you search for a wedding card template or a marriage invitation template, the results come from the same five places, and only Etsy charges for every design.
- Canva has the biggest library: its wedding invitation page listed more than 19,000 templates in September 2026. Some carry a Pro label, which means they need a paid plan. Canva Pro is ₱300 a month. Our Canva wedding invitation guide walks through editing one step by step.
- Microsoft Word has free wedding templates (invitations, programs, checklists) that open in Word for the web, which needs only a free Microsoft account. The collection is small next to Canva's, but a Word file is easy to hand to any print shop.
- Adobe Express has free templates too; premium ones need its paid plan at US$9.99 a month. Its own print ordering covers only the US, UK, Australia and Canada, so Filipino couples download the file and print locally.
- Google Docs has no wedding invitations in its own template gallery, so third-party sites fill the gap: gdoc.io lists 17 free wedding invitation templates you copy into your own Drive.
- Etsy sells paid templates you edit yourself, most of them in Canva. On the first page of an Etsy Philippines search, most listings cost about ₱90 to ₱1,800, many of them marked down, and the priciest bundle was ₱4,697. Several are Canva website templates that advertise an RSVP link.
Printers on Lazada advertise "free layout" at ₱9 to ₱25 a card, often with a 20-card minimum. You send the details, they place them in one of their stock designs. You won't edit it yourself, and every change goes through the seller.
Free and paid template sources compared
Pick by where the invitation ends up. The card you hand your ninong needs a print-ready file, while a link dropped in the family group chat is only useful if it collects replies.

Can you use a free template without paying later?
Yes, if you check two things before you spend an evening on the design.
First, look for paid elements. Canva's help center says premium elements carry watermarks on a free account until you buy them or upgrade. A template can be free while a photo or flourish inside it is not, and you only find out at download. Swap those parts out early.
Second, read the license if the template comes from a third-party site. The gdoc.io license, for one, lets you use and edit its templates for personal or business work without credit. What it forbids is passing the template file around or reselling it.
What should a Filipino wedding invitation template have room for?
Many free templates on Canva and Word are laid out for a Western wedding: two names, a date, one venue and an RSVP line. A Filipino church wedding adds a second venue and a sponsor list. Eight pairs of principal sponsors and three pairs of secondary sponsors already make 22 names, and they won't fit in the space left on a single card.
Before you choose, check that the layout can hold all of these:
- The hosts, usually both sets of parents, with full names
- Your full names, including middle names if your family expects them
- Date, time, and the ceremony venue
- The reception venue, often a separate address from the church
- The entourage: principal sponsors, then secondary sponsors for candle, veil and cord, then the bridal party and bearers
- Dress code, such as Filipiniana or semi-formal, with your motif colors
- RSVP deadline and how to reply
- Optional: gift note, adults-only note, map or QR code
Item 5 is the one that breaks a single card. Our sponsors guide covers why lists run long, and every ninong and ninang expects to find their name spelled right and large enough to read.
So look for a template set with at least two pieces: a main card for the essentials and a separate entourage page or insert card. On Canva or Etsy, search for "wedding invitation suite" or check that the listing includes a details or entourage page. In Word or Google Docs, add a second page with the same fonts.
For the exact order of names, see our entourage list guide. For the lines themselves, including parent-hosted and couple-hosted versions, use our invitation wording samples. How to lay each part out on the card is covered in wedding invitation format.
How do you choose a template for your wedding style?
Match the template to your venue and dress code first, then your motif colors. A cathedral wedding with Barong and long gowns usually calls for gold frames and serif script, while a garden or restaurant reception looks right in a clean sans-serif layout. For a Filipiniana dress code, lace borders and deep greens do the work.

That is Ceremo's Piña template, with calado-style lace along the top and Tagalog section names. You can open the Piña sample to see it on a phone. For more styles side by side, from classic to bold, our wedding invitation examples guide shows each one with a live sample.
One practical rule: if your motif has a specific color, check that the template lets you change colors. Most Canva, Word and Adobe Express templates do. Etsy templates depend on the seller.
What size and paper should you print on?
If you print, 5 by 7 inches is the default. Canva's own size guide calls it "the most common invitation size," and Philippine sellers list it as 5R. Smaller 4 by 6 inch (4R) cards cost less, and folded cards give you an inside page for the entourage.
If you are building the card from scratch, how to make a wedding invitation covers the design steps. Here is what Philippine printers list on their own pages:
| Printer | Size | Paper | Price and minimum |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jincos, Quezon City | 5 x 7 in, with envelope | 300 gsm, white or ivory | From ₱338 a set of 4 |
| Sinag, Laguna | 8.5 x 5.5 in, folded, with inserts | Glossy board (C2S 220 lb) on the ₱200 design | ₱150 to ₱200 a piece before VAT, 20 minimum, 7 working days |
| Lazada sellers | 5R (5 x 7 in) and 4R (4 x 6 in) | 230 gsm glossy on budget listings | ₱9 to ₱25 a card |
Sinag charges ₱500 if you want them to do the layout. Otherwise it asks for a print-ready file, which is what your template export is.
Before you send the file:
- Export a PDF at the exact card size, not an A4 page with the card in the middle.
- Use images at 300 DPI in CMYK. Jincos's terms ask for exactly that and say it isn't responsible for files that don't meet it.
- Keep names and dates away from the edges, since trimming shifts by a millimeter or two.
- Order a printed proof if colors matter. Jincos charges ₱75 for a physical sample.
- Print 10 to 15 percent extra. Our digital vs printed cost guide explains why spares cost less than reprints.
When is a template enough, and when do you need more?
A free template is enough when you're printing a small batch or sending an image to a short list you can follow up by phone. Add a free Google Form link or QR code to the card and you can collect replies too, though you'll match each answer to your guest list by hand. That gets slow once you're chasing 80 households and need to see who hasn't answered.
Ceremo does that part. It is an invitation website: you choose one of 13 templates, all free to use, and fill in your details, entourage included. Each household gets its own RSVP link to paste into Messenger or Viber, and guests answer without making an account. Color presets and custom colors are Premium. Ceremo is free for up to 50 guests, and ₱2,499 one-time covers unlimited guests.
You can also do both: print a small batch for sponsors and elders from a Canva or Word template, with the invitation's QR code, which you can download free from Ceremo's Share tab. Everyone else gets the link. Photos of your printed suite can go on the website too, so both versions match.
For a card to print and nothing more, Canva or Word does the job for free. When you want every reply in one list, start your invitation and pick a template there.
Frequently asked questions
Where can I get a free wedding invitation template?
Canva, Microsoft Word and Adobe Express all have free wedding invitation templates you can edit online, and sites such as gdoc.io offer free Google Docs versions. Check each design before you commit, because some templates mix in paid elements that print with a watermark unless you pay.
Are Canva wedding invitation templates really free?
Many are. Canva marks paid templates and elements as Pro, and on a free account those premium elements carry a watermark until you buy them or upgrade. Pick a template without the Pro label, or swap out the paid photos and graphics, and the download stays free.
What size is a wedding invitation in the Philippines?
5 by 7 inches is the most common size, sold by local printers as 5R. Smaller 4 by 6 inch cards (4R) are the budget choice, and folded cards around 8.5 by 5.5 inches open up room for an entourage page inside.
What paper should I use for printed wedding invitations?
Ask for card stock of about 230 to 300 gsm. Printers in the Philippines sell 5 by 7 invitations on 300 gsm stock in white or ivory, and budget listings use 230 gsm glossy board. Anything thinner feels like a flyer in the hand.
Can a free template include an RSVP?
A printed or image template can only carry RSVP instructions, such as a phone number, a Messenger name or a QR code. To track who is coming, the template has to link to something that collects the replies, such as a form or an invitation website.
